If you haven't heard of the term "centering" before, you probably read that title like what the hell is this guy talking about? Anyways, let's talk about centering in FPS games and why it is important.

Centering in FPS games simply refers to the technique of keeping your crosshair at an optimal position on the screen, which is usually at head or chest level. The goal of centering is to minimize the amount of adjustment needed when an enemy appears.

Why Centering Is Important:

  • Faster Reaction Time: When you keep your crosshair centered in areas where enemies are likely to appear, you reduce the need for large mouse or joystick movements when engaging enemies. This results in a higher chance of you winning engagements with your enemies.
  • Efficient Crosshair Placement: Centering prevents you from aiming unnecessary areas like the ground or random objects. Instead, it keeps your aim in line with where enemies' vital areas will likely appear.
  • Being Prepared for Engagements: As you round corners or move through high-traffic areas, centering allows you to be pre-aimed and ready for engagements, giving you the upper hand in gunfights.

How to Practice Centering:

  1. Aim at Head Level: As you move around, always keep your crosshair at head or chest level where enemies typically appear.
  2. Pre-Aim Around Corners: Before turning a corner, position your crosshair where you expect an enemy to be. This will help to minimize the time it takes to adjust when you spot an opponent.
  3. Visual Cues: By familiarizing yourself with the map you can use environmental features as a guide to have efficient crosshair placement.
Hope you took some useful tips from this centering guide!
